Anagogia
Marco Maniezzi, who performs under the alias Anagogia is very well known Italian rapper and producer. He was born and raised in Cento in the province of Ferrara which is where many other members of the Mascarella community originate
Anagogia has been involved in the Italian rap scene since he was 13 years old, when he chose his stage name and first started producing his first beats and making his first freestyles.
His impressive rhythms soon caught the attention of Warner Music, who signed him up to a contract in 2013. This was a big breakthrough as it was very rare for such a big record label to be interested in an unknown Italian artist. His first album “Pillole” was soon released featuring the excellent tracks “Panic Room” and “Champions feat Ens”. Inspiration for the album came largely from Anagogia’s troubled past when he had several problems as a child and he ended up needing psychological care. Another major influence in the writing of the album, as in all of Anagogia’s work, is the cinema. For example, Panic Room gets it’s title from a a film by David Fincher and his lyrics are full of references to fantasy and science fiction.
However, although Pillole was well received by the fans, we had to wait another long 8 years before being able to listen to Anagogia’s second album. In early 2023 the “Tra Le Vipere, Senza Dio” was finally released and it was well worth the wait. It’s produced by Aleaka who has been responsible for some outstanding contributions to the Italian Hip Hop underground scene, and features Brenno Itani and Toni Zeno on some of the finest tracks. It’s a complex album that deserves several listens to be fully appreciated. In our opinion, the album marks the return Anagogia’s best and hopefully we can look forward to many more years of output from this outstanding Hip Hop performer.
